Dr. LaKesha Whitfield
HHS Principal
I am Dr. LaKesha Whitfield and I have been an educator for 19 years. I obtained my bachelor’s and master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin. I earned my Doctorate of Leadership in Educational Administration and my Superintendents Certification from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. I obtained my principal certification from Region XIII.
Before joining Hutto ISD, I was a Mathematics teacher at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville ISD for nine years, where I served in various capacities on numerous campus and district level committees. For the past 10 years, I have had the pleasure of working within Hutto ISD. During this time, I have served as the founding principal of the Hutto 9th Grade Center “NGC” and the principal of River Horse Academy (RHA). I have also been an instructional coach, an assistant principal, and I had the esteemed honor of being Hutto High School’s first associate principal. During the 2014-2015 school year, I was named Employee of the Year for Hutto High School and for Hutto ISD.
Being named the lead learner at Hutto High School is a huge honor. Though I will greatly miss my NGC family, I am humbled to return to the halls of Hutto High School and serve as campus principal. This opportunity of leading, learning, and growing alongside the HHS community comes with great excitement as we continue to “Connect, Relate, Engage and Empower” all stakeholders. Being the leader of HHS also allows me to continue doing what I love, doing what I was created to do, and to live out my life’s purpose of creating new legacies. As we embark on this journey of “Rowing in Excellence”, collectively we will continue HHS on its path to being the premier choice in education. As always, I am humbly honored to serve.
