Welcome to 2016-17 School Year at Hutto High School!

Welcome, my name is Cheryl B. Frazier.  I am looking forward to meeting you, and facilitating your learning this year.  I believe as a young adult at Hutto High School, you are in charge of your learning and must take responsibility for it.  I will guide and help you in any way that I can to ensure that you are successful.

I am starting my 13th year in Hutto ISD and my 29th year in teaching Science at the Secondary school level.  I will be teaching Earth & Space Science.  While teaching in Hutto, I have taught 6-8th grade Science, Biology, Environmental Science, IPC (Integrated Physics & Chemistry), Physics, PAP Physics & AP Physics 1. Previous to Hutto ISD, I taught at Leander Middle School in Leander ISD, James Madison High School in NorthEast ISD (San Antonio), Sid Peterson Middle School in Kerrville ISD, Harper High School in Harper ISD and Smith Middle School on Fort Hood in Killeen ISD.  As you can imagine, teaching at different sized schools, I have been one of many in a department and the only one in a department.  Over the years, I have taught Astronomy, Chemistry, Physical Science (now called IPC), and 7th grade Texas History in addition to all the courses listed previously.

I have my B.S. in Meteorology from Texas A&M, Gig'em Ags! I transferred to TAMU from Kansas State University where I was studying Horticulture and Interior Design.  I know quite a change, long story, but growing up in Kansas, land of Dorothy & Toto, how could you not want to study weather? I have yet to see a tornado in real life though.  I did get to experience Hurricane Earl in Belize this summer!  I was on the south side of the hurricane, so fairly safe, but boy that wind blew! After obtaining my degree, I went back and obtained my teaching certificate.  I hold the following certificates: Elementary Self-Contained (1-8), English as Second Language Supplemental, Gifted and Talented Supplemental, Secondary Earth Science, Secondary Science Composite, and Secondary Social Studies Composite.

I grew up in the suburbs of Kansas City, Overland Park specifically, but have been in Texas since 1981 when I transferred to TAMU. I have 2 children and 2 furballs that I call my "children".  My oldest, Stephen, graduated from Texas Tech after playing soccer (midfielder) at Boston University for a year.  He lives in the Dallas area now where he is a Senior Financial Analyst.  Lauren, my daughter, graduated from Texas State University after transferring from the University of Houston.  She played goalie at both schools and is currently Texas State's Women's Soccer Assistant Coach. I have watched a lot of soccer games and do miss watching my kids play, although I try to catch Texas State's & Hutto's games when they are at home.

Now for my furballs, Frankie & Clancy, both rescues... These two keep me entertained and I'm sure I will share stories about them during the year, they are best of buds, "Brothers of different Mothers".  Frankie, my fluffer-muffin, is a blue-eyed, long-haired part lilac /lynx point Siamese, we think, but who knows. Clancy, my snuggle-muffin, is a red-haired, lab/rottweiler mix, 100 pounds of goof-ball lap dog, and goes with me just about everywhere.  I only wish I could have both with me at school :-(.

Outside of school, I enjoy gardening, although didn't get one in this summer, but usually grow mainly tomatoes and herbs, but am going to try a fall garden.  I quilt and always have project(s) that I need to finish, my "stash" is fairly large.  Given the opportunity, I love to travel.  This summer I went to Belize and was on a catamaran for 3 days and camped out on little bitty islands, or Cayes as they call them, unfortunately, Earl delayed my return to Texas.  I love to cook & try new recipes, read historical fiction and watch "my shows" on TV.
